Restaurants in Dixons Creek

Dixons Creek is one of the Yarra Valley's quieter wine country zones — small, rural, and home to a cluster of celebrated cellar door restaurants tucked along the back roads north of Healesville. The suburb itself is little more than a crossroads and a country pub (Dixons Creek Cafe Bar & Grill), but the surrounding viticultural land includes some of the region's most respected boutique wineries.

Notable venues include the Dixons Creek Cafe Bar & Grill (a long-running pub-bistro that's one of the region's highest-traffic listings by clicks per visitor), Soumah of Yarra Valley (a winery restaurant with a focus on Italian varietals), Yarra Yering (one of the region's most celebrated boutique wineries), and several smaller cellar doors along Steels Creek Road and Healesville-Kinglake Road.

The character here is rural and unhurried — much less touristed than the Coldstream-Yarra Glen wine cluster, with a sense of working agricultural land rather than visitor destination. For visitors who've already done the obvious Yarra Valley itinerary, Dixons Creek offers a quieter, more boutique alternative.

The drive from Melbourne CBD takes 75-85 minutes — slightly further than Healesville. Most visitors arrive via Healesville (10 minutes south) and continue further out into the cellar door cluster.
