Yering Station is the site of Victoria first vineyard, planted by the Ryrie brothers in 1838. The property was awarded the only Grand Prix for wine from the Southern hemisphere at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889. By the early 20th century, the industry was in decline and the area (including Yering Station) turned to dairy farming.

In 1988, more than 75 years after the last vineyard had been removed; part of the original site was re-established with 22 acres of vines.

A small cellar door facility operated on the site from 1992.
